Patapaa Amisty, a popular Ghanaian musician known for his viral hit song "One Corner," recently made a suggestion that Charterhouse, the company in charge of organizing the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), might have received a supernatural curse. In a sincere interview with Hitz FM, Patapaa revealed his ongoing disappointment over the 2018 VGMA, when he lost the prestigious Most Popular Song of the Year title to Fancy Gadam's "Total Cheat."
The musician, whose real name is Justice Amoah, stated that he firmly believed that the VGMA organizers had received a curse from God as a result of their conduct during the awards ceremony. He stated that he thought the alleged curse was a sort of retribution for hurting him during the incident.
Because of what the VGMA organizers did to me, I can see that God has cursed them. During the interview, he made the statement, "I don't want to go too far.
Even though Patapaa withheld further information, he made it clear that the idea of a curse in this situation meant suffering the penalties for causing suffering to another person. He opted not to go into more detail but maintained his conviction.
In the interview, Patapaa used the Amakye Dede saga as an illustration to back up his point. He claims that Amakye Dede was forced into appointing Kuami Eugene as his successor despite not being ready to do so.
"I wanted to use Amakye Dede's situation as an example, but I'm not going to. When Amakye Dede was not prepared to crown someone, they compelled him to do so, Patapaa said.
Patapaa's song "One Corner" became viral in 2018 and gained popularity outside of Ghana. Patapaa had disappointment when he didn't win the VGMA despite being nominated among well-known performers like Ebony, KiDi, Kwami Eugene, Joe Mettle, and Captain Planet.
